4 credits, 6 hours. Measures of central tendency and dispersion, the normal curve, hypothesis testing. Linear correlation and regression, basic concepts in probability with application to problems in the social, behavioral, physical, and biological sciences. Statistical computer programs will be used extensively. Not open to students who have completed MTH 214. It includes a review of topics in Intermediate Algebra needed for the study of Elementary Statistics. Prerequisite: appropriate CUNY math assessment score or permission of the Department of Mathematics.
