Student Teaching and Seminar in Early Childhood Education II

Description

Practice and problem-solving in early childhood classrooms, pre-K through 2. Designed for public schools. Students will be in attendance at the assigned school three half and two full days a week for a full semester. Candidates meet once a week for two hours in a seminar to synthesize information learned throughout their program and produce and deliver meaningful, effective lessons addressing diverse learners and learning styles, as well as state and local standards. The course will also focus on assessing student learning and integrating technology into instruction. Several sessions will be devoted to New York State Certification and New York City Licensing requirements, including required workshops. Application for a student teaching assignment must be completed and filed with the Student Teaching Office the semester preceding the semester in which the student plans to complete EDC 441. Graded Pass (P) or Fail (F).In addition, students must meet each of the following criteria:1.A grade point average of 3.0 in all education courses2.A minimal grade of C+ in all education courses3.Three letters of recommendation from full-time Education faculty, at least one from a professor who can attest to your performance in the field4.Satisfactory fieldwork evaluations.
